Eleven Cadets from Glenfield attended R.A.F Wittering for an air show on Thursday 6th July. Arrived at 11 o'clock the cadets deemed themselves  lucky that the weather was dry, though it was cloudy which meant that it was quite hard to see the air show.

When the cadets  first arrived they went over to the aircraft which were on show. They saw a Griffin and had the chance to sit in the pilots seat of various other aircraft. The cadets then had a group photo out of the back. .

The Four Counties Gliding Club were present, they had 2 gliders there which you could sit in. There was also go karting display. The Royal Marines were there and there was a competition to marshal a vehicle with a trailer on the back into a parking slot and it had to be a certain distance away form the cones, Cdt Brewster and Cdt Graham had ago and found it was very difficult!

The air display began just after 12 with the Red Arrows performing a spectacular show, even though at times it was hard to see them due to poor visibility. The Grob Tutor performed a display full of aerobatics. There was then a race between a Harrier and the Audi Le mans car, The cadets were amazed to discover that the Harrier only just won! It was quite exciting to watch as it was something different, the Harrier also performed a display of its own. There was also a parachute display, about 8 jumpers skydived from 10,000 feet! World War II Aircraft - The Lancaster and  The Spitfire also did a show as well as the Merlin Helicopter, The Chinooks display was one of the main highlights of the day,

The Cadets thoroughly enjoyed this family day, for those that had not been to an airshow before, it was even more so.
