12 cadets from Glenfield Sqn went away on May-day bank holiday weekend to go to Royal Marine Base Chivenor in North Devon. Although it is a Royal Marine base, the RAF operate a search and rescue squadron from the base. The RAF were able to host us for the weekend, allowing us to see a working base other than an RAF Station. All the cadets over the weekend went flying and some went gliding aswell! 22 Sqn Search and Rescue were able to take  several cadets on training sorties in the Sea King helicopter while the cadets that went gliding flew in the Vigilant motor glider and got the chance to take the controls and fly the glider until they came in to land.

Over the weekend the cadets also had adventure training oppurtunities which invloved orienteering both on foot and bicycle around Ilfracoombe and Woolacoombe, and were using radio's to maintain contact with other groups and the control vehicles.

At night our hosts put on a BBQ and disco for the cadets to enjoy over at the station sailing club. Coming home on the Monday afternoon the last stop-off before the journey home was at minehead where the cadets could look around before heading home.
